Sorry it's been a while

Well so much has happened since the last time I did one of these.

Let's start with today's news that Mercedes has bought out Brawn GP and are going to rename it etc. Firstly this throws my predictions for drives next year out of the window because they are looking like they're going to run with a complete German lineup with Nico Rosberg and Nick Heidfeld. Mclaren it seems will run with a complete British lineup, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, the first team with two World Champions in it since Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost at guess who, Mclaren. Next season looks like getting better and better with all of these brilliant driver lineups (LH and JB at Mclaren, FM and FA at Ferrari, NR and NH at Brawn and SV and MW at Red Bull plus the likes of Nico Hulkenberg and Bruno Senna breaking into F1). I wish I could predict who was going where but it seems I just haven't got the knack of it.

I suppose I should do something on the Brazil vs England result but I won't, i'll just say that the team England played was far from full strength and this I feel was reflected in our performance.

Unfortunately on the subject of football and the World Cup qualification, Gabon didn't make it and so I will be supporting New Zealand, who although less obscure have waited 28 years for this moment. I would support North Korea if it wasn't for the fact that I would get so much abuse for hanging their flag outside my window when the World Cup comes round.

The only other thing for me to mention is of course the X Factor and the fact that I will now have to change my blog title picture because Jedward are growing on me. I'll leave it for now because they are still pretty annoying but they are getting better.

That's all for now but I might write another one later if I can think of some other things to write.

Wierd

With the announcement of the frankly pathetic renaming of St James' Park today i thought it was time to do a blog on some weird news articles that i've read this week. Some are quite amusing and some disturbing.

The disturbing one that i read this week was that an 11 yr old girl has given birth to her child, but worse than that it was during her wedding! The 19 yr old that was the father of the child and the girls husband to be faces up to six years in jail but in what strange way can he possibly justify what he did. There's nothing else for me to say on this really.

Next and possibly my favourite is Australian Psychology Expert Joe Forgas has said that being Grumpy is good for you. Excellent. If this is the case then i'm sorted for life, i may be constantly grumpy but my arguement can always be "it's good for me, just ask Joe Forgas" and nobody will have a clue what i'm on about.

And just to show that not every species on the planet is dying as the metro seems to be saying, rather demoralisingly i might add, but one species at least (apart from humans obviously) is increasing in numbers - the Nomura Jellyfish. In rather a round about way i'm sure this is what Sky News were trying to say when it reported that Giant Jellyfish have capsized a 10-tonne boat. I particularly like Professor Shinichi Ue's quote, 'A huge jellyfish typhoon will hit the country'. I can just imagine lots of these massive jelly fish falling on people's heads which would not be fun for the person being crushed and stung at the same time.

I have just noticed the article on BBC Sport's website saying that Renault are going to hold emergency talks to consider their place in F1. Please don't leave Renault then i have to completely redo by F1 drivers chart for next year. We love you really even though you cheated you lying French *****.

Oh dear

Well my prediction for where F1 drivers are going next year has already gone out of the window with the announcement of Toyota's withdrawal from the sport. However this just means that either the team carries on under a new name having signed the concorde agreement or the former BMW team now has a place on the grid. Either way there will still be 13 teams on the grid and so i just have to reshuffle a few drivers.

If Toyota continue under a new name then everything stays the same

If however BMW get the place then:

Lotus:
Takuma Sato
Kamui Kobayashi
(very Japanese team suddenly but they are based in Malaysia)
Manor:
Heikki Kovalainen
Jaime Alguesuari
Whatever Sauber:
Nick Heidfeld
Christian Klien

2010 World Cup

Just a quick one to state the obvious really: England will lose in the quarter finals. This means that this year i have decided to change my allegiance to Gabon (assuming they make it). This includes the purchase of a Gabon Flag however they still need to beat Togo in a couple of weeks with Cameron also needing to lose to Morocco. Fingers crossed they'll make it and it will allow me to enjoy the world cup more than if i was an England fan. However if they don't make it i still won't be supporting England, oh no! I will instead change my allegiance again (I sound like the Italians) to Bahrain or New Zealand depending on who wins their qualifier.

If you feel the same as i do then please feel free to join my facebook group:

This ones not a moan

Today it has been announced that Rubens Barrichello will drive for Williams next year along side GP2 Champion Nico Hulkenberg. This is what many would regard as an excellent type of line up. Experience and Youth combined and lets face it you don't get more experienced than Rubens. However there is some history here. It was in a Williams car that the legendary Ayrton Senna, mentor to Rubens at the time, died at Imola. This may be one of the reasons Rubens wishes to drive for them next year, who knows. Let's hope that Williams can produce a good, if not great, car for this pair to drive next year as it would inevitably gain them some points as these two are both exceptional drivers.
Hopefully in the next few days we will see many more drivers signed up to teams however these are my prediction(and those that have been confirmed):

Brawn:
Jenson Button
Nico Rosberg
Red Bull:
Sebastien Vettel
Mark Webber
Mclaren:
Lewis Hamilton
Kimi Raikkonen
Ferrari:
Fernando Alonso
Felipe Massa
Toyota:
Kamui Kobayashi
Heikki Kovalainen
Williams:
Rubens Barichello
Nico Hulkenberg
Renault:
Robert Kubica
Timo Glock
Force India:
Adrian Sutil
Vitantonio Liuzzi
Toro Rosso:
Sebastien Buemi
Andy Soucek
Campos:
Jarno Trulli
Bruno Senna
Lotus:
Takuma Sato
Lucas Di Grassi
Manor:
Nick Heidfeld
Jaime Alguersuari
USF1:
Marco Andretti
Danica Patrick

Also today it has been announced that David Beckham will join AC Milan on loan in January, surprise surprise. This should lead to Fabio Capello keeping him in the England squad for the 2010 World Cup. This is a good thing as he is still far better than any of these youngsters who still only have potential. Theo Walcott, Aaron Lennon and Shaun Wright-Phillips all have pace yes but the balls they deliver in to the box can often still leave something to desire. This is Beckham's speciality, hitting the man in the box every time.

Only other sporting news today is little Kai Wayne Rooney, what a name. I like the fact that bookmakers are already taking bets on whether the Rooney's son will play for England, United or any other team, he was only born today. Anyway congratulations to the Rooneys, hope they enjoy the delights of having a child.

My take on the weekend

Entertainment (supposedly)
I have only started watching the Xfactor this year and up until now i have always thought that it has been a singing competition, however there is new evidence to prove this wrong-they go by the name of John and Edward. Although they seem to have the largest fan base at the moment, people will eventually come to the realisation that they can't sing, even if they are fun to watch. (I particularly enjoyed their rendition of Ricky Martin's 'She Bangs'). However the thing that annoys me the most about these two is that they are causing good singers, such as Rachel Adedeji tonight, to be voted off of the show. I am sorry but J&E don't have a long standing future in music. Some of the contestants, Rachel, Danyl and Jamie to name a few, however could go far and if the British public isn't careful these genuine articles will be voted out of the competition. I can only hope that when there are so few of the good singers left with J&E, then the remaining voters will end up teaming up against the fools that vote for the twins every week and leave them fighting for their place on the show.

Football
Firstly Liverpool losing (Get in there) to a remarkably good Fulham side. Things are getting worse and worse for the reds, but fortunately (and yes i mean fortunately) for them and football in general they can't sack Rafa Benitez. As it was pointed out to me by i can't remember who, Liverpool can't afford to sack him. The owners don't have the money to pay him compensation as well as pay a fortune for a good manager. However this is a good thing as too many managers nowadays are sacked too early and not given the time to turn things around (with the exception it seems of Phil Brown, who just cannot turn things round at Hull). Maybe Benitez will show that a manager given time will improve the results of the club.

Next Man City not even scoring against Birmingham with all of their millions of pounds of investment into their attacking options. Even with Tevez on the pitch who was adept at scoring critical goals for United. Not to mention the penalty save by Given (who is by far their best buy this year). If Birmingham had put that away...

Arsenal's victory over Spurs was a display of how supreme Arsenal are at times but they were heavily aided by the usual 'Suicidal' (to put it in Redknapp's words) Spurs. It seems that maybe Spurs are returning to the form that means they consistently finish 5th with some great results and some pure shockers against teams like Stoke. Also a mention to a Gunner's clean sheet. It's a rare occurrence but maybe Vermaelen is what Gallas needed next to him to form a solid defense with the likes of Sagna, Clichy and Gibbs to play in the Full Back positions.

My beloved United again winning their game and keeping in touch with what seems an incredible Chelsea side (as much as i hate to admit it). Berbatov as usual missing the sitters and scores a stunner, but my star of the match even though he missed a sitter was substitute Gabriel Obertan who came on and caused real problems for Pascal Chimbonda down the wing. He has got pace, more than he showed against Blackburn, a pretty good touch, height and he's better then Nani (which doesn't take much). A real one to watch.

A quick well done also to Wolves for coming back against a Stoke side which is good at home, Portsmouth for truly thumping Wigan and West Ham for matching the goals scored by Sunderland who seem to be banging them in for fun at the moment.

The other team i have to mention is my favourite and sort of local League Two side, Barnet. Unfortunately losing this weekend to Chesterfield, however they are still only a point off of the playoffs and Ian Hendon is performing miracles as their manager so hopefully they can continue the Cup run against Darlington who they beat 3-0 only a week ago and get results in their next two league fixtures and be on the up again.

NFL
(Or at least what's already been played)
Basically all I'm going to write about are my team the New York Giants. All i can say is Oh Dear. After 5 games, 5-0. After 8 games, 5-3. It's just going down hill all the time and Manning seems to have gone off the boil. A thrashing against both the New Orleans Saints, with the formidable Drew Brees, and the Philadelphia Eagles is just not good enough. Hopefully a win against the far from brilliant San Diego Chargers will be simple and will boost spirits going into our bye week.

Formula One (My favourite)
This weekends Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was expected to be spectacular and it was as long as you didn't focus on the racing until the last 6 laps. The surroundings were spectacular, as you would expect with over $1billion worth of investment, but the racing was so dull. Yes the World Champion in waiting's, Jenson Button, charge on Mark Webber towards the close of the race provided some excitement at last but prior to that...:(. I particularly enjoyed Kamui Kobayashi today and feel he has earned a place in F1 next year. Anyway season done and only 4 months and 10 days till the next one, but all the driver changes will spice up the winter break.

News
Should really keep up to date with this but haven't checked it in a while. Maybe next time eh.
